Prego Update

This blog post is more for memory sake but you can read it too.

Went in to the doctor's today. Almost 32 weeks!

Only gained one pound in two weeks. Small victory, considering I 've been steadily gaining about 1.5 lbs each week!

I've hated gaining weight this entire pregnancy and have gained about 30 lbs so far. (10 of those lbs in one month, yikes!) I just don't like having bigger thighs. Sigh... I have stretch marks everywhere, butt, thighs, hips, boobs, but not my belly yet. I don't really care about stretch marks though, I'm pretty sure it's a Powell trait. (Michelle, Emily?) I've had stretch marks since my freshman year of high school when my hips expanded.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I have the best doctor ever. Since I've been complaining to Sterling so much about gaining weight, he brought it up at my last appointment. Most doctors are concerned about weight gain, but mine isn't. (Poor ladies on my baby forum who get told off by their OB's.) My doctor was actually really glad I was gaining all of the weight instead of not gaining enough. She told me I was perfectly healthy and baby was healthy. Well, there I go and only gain 1 lb after she says I'm doing fine, when I probably could've overindulged! :) I'll make up for it over Christmas!

My little guy is already head down. I thought he was since I've been feeling hiccups down low lately. And his heart rate is good. It's usually about 155 bpm, but it was only about 145-150 bpm this appointment. He always kicks my doctor when she puts the heart monitor on my belly. :)

I'm measuring about 2 weeks small on my belly and have been for the past two visits so she said they might do another ultrasound in a couple of weeks to check his growth. I didn't think I would get to see him again before he was born. So, hopefully I get to do another one! We did conclude though that I'm most likely measuring a little smaller because my torso is slightly longer than the average woman's, so most likely he just has more room inside rather than there actually being any problems with growth.

Everything's been going pretty good. I'm tired and a little achey at times, but other than that I can't wait to meet our little red head. Yes, I am convinced he is a red head. At least when he was crowning in my dream last week, he had a little tuft of red hair. (Oh, and Michelle, you were my doctor...)

Side Note: I got measured for a new bra today, I am officially a D. I am no longer Anna B anymore. Wow, I told my mom I was a D and she was pretty much speechless. I'm officially not the smallest in the family anymore. No more making fun of me, dad! :)

Haha! Glad to hear you aren't so small anymore:) And yes, I got stretch marks too...but they weren't too bad. Definitely on the boobs first, then only a few on my hips/love handles, and two random ones on my butt. But none on the stomach or thighs. But I was (and still am!) very faithful about putting coco butter on. It helps with the itching. Do you realize, if you are two weeks early like mom, Michelle, and I, you will have a baby in SIX weeks?!? Yay! I can't wait to hear what you name that little ginger! I'm glad y'all are healthy! You should go get a maternity massage to help with the aches and pains:)

P.S. I got your package today!

gaining weight during pregnancy can be really hard emotionally, but it really is one of the best sacrifices you could ever make! way to go anna, doing what it takes to grow a healthy baby!

i had stretch marks in high school, too. :) i made it really far into my first pregnancy with no stretch marks on my tummy and then all of a sudden one day i woke up and the very front of my belly and my inner thighs were covered! :) oh well, they're my badges of honor.

I know EXACTLY how you feel! Stretch marks run in my family, it's something I knew I wasn't going to be able to avoid, but it's still sad when you get them :( I made it to about 7.5 months and then got them all the way from my boobs to my calves (yep, every inch between!). I gained soemwhere between 60 and 70 lbs with my first one, less with Bella, but I started heavier, so my ending weight was higher as well. Although, I'm super jealous on the D!! I only went from an A- to a B while I was pregnant.

I'm so glad you have a doctor that doesn't make you feel bad about it, there's nothing wrong with gaining extra weight as long as you and the baby are healthy :)

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy! And sorry for the novel length comment ;)
