Besides getting a new car, I've been busy getting things ready for our little guy.
I can't resist looking at clothes everytime I walk into Target or Ross or the mall or Costco. They are just so dang cute. I did end up buying a Jacket at Children's Place and a few sleepers at Costco and onesies at Fred Meyer and... other clothes. I've been trying so hard to hold back, but it is difficult! I did end up getting him his first pair of hiking shoes, which he won't be able to wear until he's like 15 months old, but we were at the Columbia Employee Store and they were inexpensive.
Yesterday was a good day! I have been searching for a Petunia Pickle Bottom diaper bag since Emily mentioned them on her blog. Too bad the are $170! Eek! I've been searching on Craigslist and eBay, but haven't really found any good deals. Well yesterday, (and for the rest of the week) PPB is having an outlet sale on their website. I didn't realize the sale was going to be so popular, but when I got on the website, it was so overloaded with people. I quickly snatched up the cutest glazed boxy backpack I could find!
I love it! I have only ever heard great things about these diaper bags. They are awesome! Hopefully, I'll get it in the mail soon.
I also finally found the bedding we want to use in the nursery. I wasn't too impressed with the selection at Babies R Us and Target, so I went to Burlington Coat Factory and I found the set that were going to use!
Ta-da! We love turtles! And already have turtles all over the house. We have a strange obsession/ inside joke with turtles that stems from our honeymoon in Hawaii. If you've never seen this clip, please watch it, this is where the obsession comes from! I like turtles!
I bought the set at Burlington and brought it home to Sterling. He absolutely loved it! He is quite opinionated about all of the baby stuff. Crazy, I know! He even wants to mobile, even though it's $45 and I refused to buy it because it was so expensive. But he insists I get the turtle mobile. I'll try to find it cheaper elsewhere... Hmm. After I bought the bedding, I actually found it for cheaper on Amazon, so I'll return it at Burlington and buy it off of Amazon.
Anyway, it was a good day. I finally got the two things I have been searching for! Yay!
Question: I've been thinking about diapers and wanted to know where have you found the most inexpensive diapers and which brands have worked the best for you? I have a Costco membership, so I'm willing to go there. Is it best to start stocking up now since they go through so many? Sterling was a 10 lb baby and I was 8lb 3oz, so I'm thinking I probably wouldn't have to get very many newborn size diapers (if any at all. I think the size 1 starts at 8 lbs.) What's your thoughts?

When there are no sales going on elsewhere, Costco's regular price is the cheapest for diapers. They often have coupons in the books for those and wipes. It SEEMS more expensive, but their boxes are about twice the size of Target's boxes. Although, when Target has them on sale, they are a little cheaper. I found the best way to figure it out is (by size, because each size has a different amount in the box) figure out the cost per diaper. Then wherever you go, you don't have to remember the quantity in the containers your comparing the prices of. Also, go to huggies' site and enter in your info, you'll get coupons from them for $ off of the Jumbo (or larger) packs of diapers as well as wipes.
Stocking up is a GREAT idea, we have so many diapers for Isaiah in every size, we didn't have to buy them for him for like 2 years!
Hahaha, I have never seen that Zombie kid before, but that was funny:) I'm glad you got so many of your baby essentials yesterday! You'll love them! I'm excited for you:) Only 15 1/2 more weeks! Yay!
We buy our diapers at Costco. I've definitely found them to be the cheapest anywhere. I'm pretty sure they don't stock size 0 or 1 diapers, but you really don't need a super stock up of those sizes anyway. One box of diapers at Costco generally lasts us about 1 month, but that's in Hailey's current size (size 4). If you're interested in stocking up on diapers, watch Babies R Us ads. They will often give gift cards or certain deals if you buy so many boxes (usually 2) of a certain brand of diaper. I don't know what their prices are, I haven't ever bought diapers there, so I'm honestly not sure how good of a deal it is, but it would be something to look into.
I think Costco is the best place to buy diapers. Huggies brand are by far the best (in my opinion), and the Kirkland brand is a close second. I don't think you need to be too worried about NB diapers, you will most likely receive a lot at your shower(s). But yeah it's smart to stock up on diapers. Also, Costco's baby wipes are awesome, I highly recommend them.
About clothing, Carters tends to be the best brand. Gerber runs small, Faded Glory runs big.
we generally buy diapers at costco. they are almost always cheapest. but, like others have mentioned, you can find coupons at other places occasionally. but costco is a good standby.
since you asked: huggies are the ONLY way to go. for lots of other products, generic or cheaper brands will do the trick. but not with diapers! there is no other brand of diapers out there that compares with huggies - no one has figured out their secret i guess. or else they have an no one can make it for any cheaper. something... who knows? other diapers get totally gross and like play-doh when they get wet/dirty. it's gross. and they don't hold in leaks/blow-outs as well. even my sister-in-law who is very frugal and generally just gets whatever diapers are cheapest, uses huggies up until size 3 just to contain all the newborn blow-outs, etc. because there is nothing like huggies!
so, yeah, i don't have any strong feelings about that. :) haha.
also, size 1's usually do the trick for most newborns if you're worried about newborn diapers being too small. that's what they give you in the hospital. so that's a good place to start. but i would say for now, since you don't know how big the baby will be or how fast he'll grow, just get a package or two of newborn/size 1 and stock up more on the other sizes. you can always go to the store for more. :)
Thanks everyone! I probably will start stocking up when there are diaper coupons for Costco!
