Today I'm 39w5d... Let's just call it 40 weeks now.
Didn't think I would make it to today's doctors appointment, but I did. Oh well.
Here's a record of my past 5 weekly visits:
36 weeks: 1/2 cm dilated. Yay!
37 weeks: 1 cm, very soft. Hooray!!
38 weeks: 2 cm, 70% effaced, baby very far down. I was so excited to see progress!
39 weeks: 3 cm, 80% effaced, baby at a -1. Doc says I was ready, baby was ready. I would probably have the baby any day. Basically our little guy couldn't get any lower
40 weeks (today): 4 cm, 80% effaced, -1. He can't get any lower. Maybe I'll be one of those few who deliver on their actual due date. Superbowl baby!
My doc said to me today, "I can't believe you are still pregnant." She pretty much said, You're already almost halfway done with labor and you haven't even labored yet. True, only 6 more cm and that baby is coming out. The good news is my doctor and I both think I will take after my mom and have very quick labors. Like 2 hour labors. Yes, please!
I guess I'm willing to be patient if labor is going to be short. But the waiting game is driving me somewhat crazy. I was going to start a new knitting project last week but decided against it because I figured I would have had him last week, but now I'm wishing I had started it. At least it would have kept me busy. I can only walk around the mall and Target so many times and I've almost finished the book I started earlier this week.

Being your aunt, and that means we have some genetic similarities, your mother and I had the same due dates with Michelle and Lisa. Your mom had Michelle 12 days early, I had Lisa 2 days late. Good luck!
Wow, I've never heard someone say they were 4cm before they were actually in labor! Maybe you'll just keep on going not feeling a thing ;) I didn't feel a thing until my water broke. Good luck!!!
I pray for him every night to come out:) Hasn't worked quite yet, but one of these nights it will!
