I need to let out some frustrations...

Disclaimer: You do not need to read this if you don't want to. I'm just letting out frustrations in writing.

I hate group projects. The work output is never as good as an individual project.

I'm working with this group and we are valuing Costco. Our group consists of one white guy, me and two chinese girls. (Sidenote: I am not racist, but want to get across my point.) One white guy: cool; One chinese girl: cool; Other Chinese girl: not cool.

I have a lot of Asian friends at school and I love them. Actually, about 90% of my friends at school are Asian. They are some of the more fun people I've hung out with. They are very hardworking and really try to get things done.

Well, this one girl in my group is:

very hardworking= great

Gets her work done=awesome

trys really hard=amazing

has terrible communication skills=yup

is completely rude= you got it

doesn't care about your opinion=that explains her.

At first I really gave her the benefit of the doubt: She was the one who took "charge" of the group and was kind of the "leader." That's great! But then, she turned EVIL! I should have seen the pushiness at the beginning as her just wanting to get her way.

She asked for our opinion, I gave it to her because I really thought we needed to change one of our calculations and I explained clearly (at least me and the other group member thought it was clear) and she said there was no way we could defend it and that she didn't understand. So I put together another group of number and she shot it down again, but wanted to keep her calculations. Well, our teacher told us that those calculations were wrong. Is it too much to ask to follow the teacher's feedback? Her calculations could not be defended at all. Well, then when I asked if I could look at her numbers to try to understand where she was getting her answer, she just said she was confused who was writing that part of the paper.

what?....

Who cares who is writing it? I just wanted to know how she came up with her answer.

So, I emailed her back and said, "well, I think so and so is writing it, but I was wondering what you think about this new set of calculations."

Then she emailed back and said "it depends who is writing that part." I thought this was a group project... I thought we were doing this project together. Finally so and so just put my calculations in there and said we weren't changing it anymore. So... whatever, I went on with the project.

A couple hours later she asked me for my draft of my portion of the paper so she can write hers. I said, sure it is on our google groups page and she emailed back and said "you didn't change anything from the original draft." And I said," not yet, but if I do they will be minor changes and will not affect your work."

Well then she had the gall to say, "I see. One thing needs to be correct that its the group work. Not my work!"

Ha! Hypocrite! You just said earlier that the other calculation depending on who wrote it. I thought this was a group project. We all need to be able to defend our writing and our assumptions. Gah!!! Apparently, I needed to say "it won't affect the part of the project that you are writing."

Then on top of that she was constantly asking me for things when I had just emailed it to her, but she hadn't actually read the message. READ THE STUPID MESSAGE. And then 99% of the time, she doesn't understand what anyone is saying to her. (I swear to never work in a group again if the group members cannot speak English clear enough to actually communicate things.) And when people suggest changing things, she just wants to do it her way, even though the teacher told us to change it! Gah!!!!! This has happened multiple times.

Oh and you know what really ticked me off. They asked me to put together the powerpoint for our presentation a couple of weeks ago and I spent hours formatting it making sure everything looked just right. Well, then she decided to take one of the previous drafts and changed some things on that one and just randomly threw in the Costco logo in random places all over the powerpoint. And I emailed back and said, "please make any additional changes to the powerpoint that I already formatted." well, the morning of the presentation she decided to make changes to an old draft again, but I didn't get to see it until right before the presentation because I had class before that one. I was so POed and she knew it. I tried to make format changes before the presentation started but could only make a few. I told her, "I put hours into making our powerpoint look good and then you don't even use the right version." Gah!!!! All she said was, "oh, all I cared about were the numbers." Gah!!!! I was like no, even if we are Finance majors, we still have to make things presentable. I am a stickler for making things right for projects and papers. Gah!!!! How would you feel if you put hours upon hours putting together a presentation and then they mess it up? I've cried too many times over this project because of her...

Hmph... I feel a little better. Now, I just have to make it through until Monday and then I don't ever have to work with her again. Hallelujah!
