Last year, my first blog post, we had such a good time at the Jack Johnson concert, but afterward was a mess. We got to the concert early since it is lawn seating and we wanted to get good seats. Well, apparently, if you get there early, you are the last ones out of the parking lot b/c there is only one exit. Horrible, horrible, horrible idea! After that concert it took us over 2 hours just to get out of the parking lot. It was a Thursday night and Sterling had to work in the morning. We were pretty upset and ended up parking somewhere in a lowlight part of the parking lot to get some sleep. We learned are lesson: don't ever go to Columbia Meadows amphitheatre again unless we park in the way back.
So, we weren't sure what this venues parking was like- Clark County Amphitheatre. We tried asking around but nobody really had a clear-cut answer. We decided to play it safe a get to the concert as late as possible. We knew there were going to be three opening acts for Coldplay, so we figured they wouldn't start until 9 at the earliest. Well, if you've ever tried to get across the Columbia river up the I-5 on a Friday, during rush hour, you know it is horrendous. So we decided to wait for a little while to see if traffic would go down some. Thank goodness we did. Traffic was still slow going but at least it wasn't terribly stop and go. We ended up getting there by about 8:30. And then when we went to park, they kept on directing us towards the very back of all of the lots. Sterling was smart (and stupid!) and turned around to go down towards the exit. He drove inbetween some cones that were set up to say that the parking lot was full and he created his own parking spot. Haha! It was great. We got some of the best parking. After the show we pretty much ran to our car and it didn't take us too terribly long to get out of the parking lot. From our seats to the highway probably took us 30 minutes. We were so relieved.
Advice: if you ever go to a concert, check out the parking and find out where the best parking is. Nothing can ruin a night more than having to wait until 1 am just to get out of the parking lot.
We ended up missing the pre-show bands, which was just fine with us. When we got to our seats, they were just setting up for Coldplay. We coudn't have timed it better.
Anyway, pictures:
Balloons- I wasn't able to hit any of them because all of the people around me were taller than me. Finally Sterling picked me up and I hit the balloon really far. That was fun.
Butterflies everywhere. Lovers in Japan- my absolute favorite Coldplay song!
Love it even more
Somewhere in here, they also did a tribute to Michael Jackson and sang Billy Jean.
On a "great show" high!

We love this lisence plate. Haha. We kept on laughing and laughing and it wasn't even that funny. I guess that just happens when we are smiling constantly and on a "high."- not a "real" high. we don't do that sillies. If you know us really well, you know we like "Toyduls," I am definitely going to look into getting a license plate that says, Toyduls.
Sterling: "Sure"
I think Sterling is secretly "in love" with this band too. He was grinning like a little school boy the whole time. I love that we both love Coldplay.

Viva La Vida
Overall, it was the best concert I have ever been to. It was a sold out show on the first day tickets were released. Over 18,000 people there. It was absolutely amazing. Coldplay is amaing live. The projector screens were amaing. They had the coolest screen shots. And we got free CDs when we left the show. I loved it. I can't wait until they come to the Portland area again. :)
