Sister's Trip

Michelle came up with this great idea: Why don't all of us Powell sisters get together for Memorial Day weekend and we'll go down to LA. So, Emily- from Chicago, Sarah- from South Carolina, and me- from Portland all flew down to Las Vegas- where Michelle lives- the Thursday Evening before Memorial Day. Luckily, our flights all came in within 40 minutes of each other, so Michelle didn't have to keep running to the airport all day! From the airport we went straight to Chili's, per my request. They closed all of the Chili's here in the Portland area. So sad! :( And I missed eating their delicious chips and Salsa. Mmmm... (By-the-way, my mom just texted me and said they were eating chips and salsa from chili's right now. They like to text me every time they eat there and rub it in because I do not get to enjoy the deliciousness whenever I want and they know I love it. Hmph!) And right after Chili's, we went and saw 17 Again. It was actually a very cute movie and we all enjoyed it and contemplated whether or not Scott and Sterling should grow out their hair like Zac Efron's. We decided Sterling doesn't have enough hair to get the same effect, though. Sorry Sterling! After that, it was pretty late, so we went back to Michelle's, got ready for bed, looked at my Mom's Mother's Day book that we did on Shutterfly, http://share.shutterfly.com/share/received/welcome.sfly?fid=c092922b0b49ab7a&sid=0EcMXLZm4asnGQ

I hope that link works! It looks so awesome in real life!

Day 2 (Friday): Michelle had to work until 3:30, so Emily, Sarah, and I got up and got ready, did some stuff around the house, got Michelle lunch, packed up the car and we left about 3:45. We stopped to fill up the tank and the tires and then we were on the road. We had some sisterly bonding time. We ate Taco Smell, I mean Taco Bell, for dinner and got to our hotel around 8:30. Emily and I had to run to Target to get a few necessities.

Day 3 & 4 (Saturday & Sunday): We got up around 7:30 and got ready to go to Disneyland! The first ride we went on was Star Tours. I think we all concluded that that ride just makes us sick! Ugh.

Emily and Sarah dueling after the ride! (Sarah could not stop smiling. :)

This was my favorite ride at Disneyland. Buzz Lightyear Astroblasters. I did pretty good for my first time, but of course Michelle scored the highest because she has been to Disneyland so many times. :)

Then we rode Autotopia and the elevator was broken, but Emily was able to carry Sarah down the stairs. And Michelle carried her back up. I wasn't much of a help carrying her onto the rides because I could only carry her on my back and not too many rides for accomidating for that. I did manage to hold her on my back for the fire works show, though. Oh man, tiring!

Sarah's favorite ride is It's a Small World. So of course we had to ride that just for her.

Sarah wanted to get her face painted! Cute, huh?

Toy Story Mania, my second favorite ride. Maybe I just like shooting things. And even though this ride says, Not for people who easily get motion sickness, it really doesn't. I hate 3-D glasses, but it really wasn't that much 3-D and didn't make me sick at all.

Unfortunately California Screamin' was closed, we really wanted to ride it. And if yu have ever been there before, you probably notice that there is no water in this picture. That is because they are building a new ride and/or show (I can't remember) and it looked really cool. It was kind of neat being able to see the empty lake.

Sarah was all punked out with the purple and black and big necklace and punk hat and on top of that Emily's sweet white-rimmed glasses. (notice Sarah's fanny-pack. Poor Sarah had to bare it every time we wanted to get our wallets or cameras out. We asked her if she felt like the pack-mule. Sorry Sarah!)

I tried on Emily's glasses, but they didn't look as good on me as they did on Sarah! This is when we were waiting in line to see the Aladdin show. It was really good. The genie was hilarious. "Beam me up scottie!"- I was the only one that laughed, oh sigh.

Mrs. Incredible is the only character we were able to get pictures with. Unfortunately the picture is kind of shakey because I had just gotten off the Tower of Terror! Tower of Terror is my favorite ride at California Adventure. We got 4 fast passes and since we knew Sarah wouldn't want to go on, I got to go on twice! Once with Emily and once with Michelle. I was gigling the whole time. Something about freefalling makes me giggle (maybe that is the way I show my fear. He he.)

Sarah was being stubborn. She would not put her hand on her head with me. We finally had to force her into it, which made for a great picture because we were both giggling.

Sarah got to ride It's Small World again!

We defeated the Evil Emperor, Zurg! And all made it to level three:Planetary Pilot.

Day 5 (Monday:) On the way back to Vegas, we stopped in ?Barstow? and saw the world's tallest thermometer. It was 95 degrees that day. Then we stopped in Primm and did a little outlet mall shopping.
Day 6 (Tuesday:) I saw Crater Lake on my plane ride home. It was awesome! I had never seen it before, so it was a good ending to a great trip! Sarah also took her first plane trip by herself. Congrats! She did so good. On the way home she ordered a Coke, bought some pringles, and played her DS!

I had fun girls! We'll have to do it again sometime, sooner rather than later.

How fun!! You guys are so cool - what a fun thing to do together as sisters! It looks like a blast! Was it crowded because it was Memorial Day?

It was pretty crowded, but I don't think we ever waited more than half an hour for a ride except Toy Story Mania. With Sarah, we were able to go through the exit and jump a lot of the lines! :) Thanks Sarah!

Whoops! Sorry Emily! I will have to edit my blog. I guess that is right. There were so many times we lifted Sarah, that I didn't get it right.
